Anna & Jake
The Story
Anna and Jake met a few years back in college at The Milwaukee School of Engineering, at a college party of course. After years of dating, Anna and Jake went on a family vacation with Jake's family. During this vacation the whole family was getting professional pictures done, when all of a sudden Jake proposed. Jake got down on one knee, Anna said yes and there are now awesome photos that documented this special moment.
The Wedding
When picking a wedding venue, they had agreed that they wanted a natural environment outside of Milwaukee. After talking with about 20 venues that fit their budget, they decided on the Barn at Trinity Peak. They chose this venue because of it's natural beauty, price point, ability to fit their guests without crowding, and freedom to decorate the Barn to fit a more classic chic and less rustic style.
Getting a wedding dress was the next step. It all happened in the second store Anna had shopped at that day. She had an idea of what she wanted, something with lace, sparkle, off white and fitting. But she had not been blown away yet. Anna had walked into Miss Ruby's, met with their consultant and told him what she was looking for. The rest was history, he grabbed a single dress, and it happened to be THE dress. Anna was over the moon about her experience with Jimmy and Miss Ruby's as a whole.
Anna and Jake had their first look the traditional way, as they were walking down the aisle. Anna thought "wow, he looks better than ever, his haircut timing the weeks before was right on and all of the running around last minute to pull his outfit together was totally worth it!"
Their ceremony was held outside at the Barn at Trinity Peak. They had beautiful flower decor by Jane Kelly. The weather could have not been more perfect for a late September day in Wisconsin. Even though, Anna had a longer walk to the alter, the blue sky, walking with her dad and getting to appreciate all her guests attendance before she even got to the front was all worth it.
The reason that they choose this particular menu was because they wanted food that was delicious, with variety and something you typically wouldn't make at home. Their tasting was so fun and they thought all the options were delicious but their winners were evident. Their guests raved for weeks after about their duck and short ribs, it was a great choice.
When it came to Anna and Jake's wedding decorations, Anna had always known that she wanted blue tones as her wedding colors. She started to design everything else around the colors in a piece of blue geode. When they had found the geode slice table numbers everything started to come together including the linen colors and the glassware.
The invitations and signage followed in theme with all of this. Also the lighting and the addition of white greenery in the flowers pulled in a variety of colors. Anna's wedding planner (who happened to be her mom) had an obvious natural eye to make their entire wedding concept flow. It was a beautiful day.
Anna and Jake had a difficult time choosing what their favorite part of their wedding day was. They had talked about it on and on over the past few months. But after dating for over 9 years, the official-ness and celebrating their long love story with a marriage was the best! But they said everything else was tied for second, the band, food, cookie bar, dress and friends were all amazing. Anna said "It was literally the best, most fun she's ever had."
