Chris & Theresa

The Story

It was the first of September and the chill of fall was in the air. Two young adults where starting a new chapter in there lives, starting college. They were both attending the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater AND both living on the same floor in the Wells East Dormitory. Through mutual locations the two had met multiple times, little did Theresa know that Chris had a twin brother Cory. During there first month of encounters Theresa thought that Chris was Cory....oops!

 Proposal

As the years went on Chris and Theresa adopted a Black Labrador Mix, Easy. He was a huge part of this growing family, so of course Chris wanted to have him involved in the proposal. One afternoon they all took a hike through Kettle Moraine State Park. They climbed all the way up to the notorious Observation Tower. Once they went back down to the park, he proposed. The moment was made extra special when Chris had hired a professional photographer to capture the special moment.

The Wedding

The wedding planning had begun and when considering locations for their dream wedding Milwaukee was their number one choice. The couple had both grown up in the Milwaukee area and wanted to share the beauty and character the city had to offer with their guests. Chris and Theresa's vison was simple and fun but elegant. The first thing on the list was the dress. While shopping Theresa thought she had an idea of what she wanted but little did she know the one she would purchase was nothing like her style. But she instantly fell in love with the surprising winner. 

The ceremony was held on the balcony of the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center overlooking Lake Michigan. The backdrop on this summer afternoon was sailboats and a festival in Veterans Park, "It was absolutely breathtaking" Theresa and Chris said.

When it came to the food Chris and Theresa wanted to give their guests options and a buffet was the perfect choice. Bubb's BBQ was the ultimate choice in catering. They had a tough time choosing between all the options they had to offer but in the end they had an amazing experience. Chris is a sucker for the garlic mashed potatoes so that was a must for this couple.

They had decided to stay away from the first look, Chris had not seen Theresa till she had walked down the aisle. " I really don't remember anything other than Chris. At that moment, you don't really think of the decorations or who else is there. It was just him. I hope every lady gets a reaction like I did from Chris" Theresa said. 

They achieved their dream wedding from inspiration from Pinterest but made a few tweaks to keep it original. In addition to table numbers, they had the fun idea of having at each table a picture of them at the age corresponding to the table number!

Perfect Day

When the couple took a moment to reflect on their special day they remembered all the people who surrounded them." We had everyone that we loved with us in one place to celebrate Chris and I. That is a special feeling and a tough one to beat" Theresa said.

Shortly after their big day, Theresa and Chris enjoyed a Caribbean cruise. It was a very relaxing trip after the long year of wedding planning!
