Ellen and Cody
The Story
Ellen and Cody actually met on Opening Day for the Brewer's. It was a great time. Before Cody knew it, it was time to pop the question. Cody had one of their friends pretend they needed an apartment. Ellen is a leasing consultant, so this was the perfect ploy. The friend then took an tour with Ellen. Cody received keys from Ellen's coworker and was already waiting in the model apartment down on one knee. Ellen said "It was perfect and the best surprise!"
The Wedding
When picking their wedding venue they decided to google "cool wedding spots in Milwaukee" and Anodyne popped up. They decided to take a look at it one day even before they were engaged and fell in love with the uniqueness of the space. Which was exactly what they both had envisioned for their day. Their top priorities were guests being able to drink during their ceremony, good beer selection and a space where they didn't need to over do with decorations.
For Ellen's dress, she knew that she wanted something with sleeves but not lace. It was hard for her to find a dress that fitted that description. It was actually the LAST dress she had tried on that day. Ellen and her mom both cried when she came out wearing it. She knew it was the one but there was a slight problem it was sleeveless. Ellen's neighbor was an seamstress and she hoped that she could work some magic on it. In the end it was exactly what she was looking for.
The ceremony was held at Anodyne coffee but Ellen and Cody's first look was at Zeidler Union Square. When they saw each other for the first time, they were both a mess. But it was still their favorite part of the day.
When choosing a menu for their wedding, they already had an idea of what they wanted. Ellen's brother and sister-in-law had Bubb's at their wedding a few years back and they knew they wanted it at theirs as well. Once Cody did a tasting he was completely on board and raved about the mac n cheese for days later. They also loved having a lot of options, so that was great also. They did also have many gluten free family members. Almost their whole menu was edible for those people, which was a huge plus.
The inspiration for their wedding decorations was simple and rustic for their main theme. The space at Anodyne was so beautiful already, they just wanted to choose a few things to make it their own. Ellen and Cody also made everything on their own that day. The loved each and every decoration they had, especially since they were all crafted by family.
Ellen and Cody loved the flow of their day. They had done pictures prior to the ceremony so they were able to take a couple minutes after they got married to grab a beer at a nearby brewery. But Ellen and Cody agreed that marrying each other was the main highlight.
They actually just got back for their amazing honeymoon in Jamaica!
Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Leland!!
